Tagging Communities is a new heritage community project about 6 neighbourhoods across Liverpool focusing on the last 150 years.
The project has already resulted in this brand new website and blog and from 29th January we will have a new app which can be used by anyone living or visiting Liverpool presenting an alternative history told by the community residents.
The app offers 6 trails across the city full of content produced by local community groups working with historians and digital artists, through a series of workshops and research trips.
Whilst our Older People’s Digital History group took on the areas of Vauxhaull and Kirkdale, local Children from Gilmour Infant School created new animation in response to Garston and Speke, and military veterans (from FACT’s Veterans in Practice group and members of Blind Veterans UK) mastered both audio recording and tandem bikes to create a new alternative cycle trail for Everton and Anfield.
Using a combination of personal stories, soundscapes and animation, along with archive images, maps (old and new) and film, the website and app aim to reanimate our local heritage!
